The Computational Molecular Biology program has an unusually large number of faculty members who specialize in different areas of computational and mathematical biology. Though they are spread across many departments, they collaborate closely and cooperate in the training of CMB students. Particularly active research areas include genetics, genomics, evolution, protein structure, and gene interaction. Research problems in these areas are tackled by diverse approaches including biophysical, mathematical, and statistical modeling, with many projects entailing sophisticated computational effort ranging from algorithm design to machine learning theory. A look at our faculty list and research highlights will give more details of our breadth and depth in these areas.
